Amari Williams earns first career NBA start

CHICAGO, Ill. - Boston Celtics center Amari Williams earned his first career NBA start on Saturday in the Celtics' game against the Chicago Bulls.

The Celtics Two-Way player has appeared in 10 games with Boston this season. On Saturday, the rookie out of Kentucky logged 10 minutes, scoring two points on 1-1 shooting, two rebounds, and one block in a narrow 114-111 loss to the Bulls. It's the second consecutive night that Williams played meaningful minutes with the big club.

On Friday, the second round draft pick played five minutes, all coming in overtime in a thrilling 130-126 double overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Williams logged a key assist to Payton Pritchard, a big block, and scored on a go-ahead three point play to help the Celtics top the Nets.

Williams has appeared in 19 games with the Maine Celtics this season. The Celtics center is averaging 14.6 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.9 blocks per game in G League action. Williams has notched two, triple doubles while playing with Maine and his 11.3 rebounds ranks fourth in the G League during the regular season.

Maine is back in action on Sunday at noon against the Greensboro Swarm.
