BOSTON, Mass. - Celtics Two-Way player Amari Williams played a career-high 15 minutes in Boston's 117-114 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.
With Boston leading by one with 4.4 seconds left in the game, Detroit's Cade Cunningham missed a potential game-tying free throw. Williams was the first to get a hand on the miss, and tipped the ball to Payton Pritchard who secured the rebound. Pritchard made two free throws on the other end of the floor as the Celtics' win snapped a 13-game winning streak for the Pistons. Boston improves to 10-8 this season and finishes NBA Cup group play with a 2-2 record.
"It starts with Amari just being able to play those 15 minutes," Boston Celtics Head Coach Joe Mazzulla said after the win. "It trickles down to the connectivity of Maine and the work that Phil (Pressey) does and their assistants."

Williams finished Wednesday's game with one point, three rebounds and two blocks in 15 minutes of action. The Celtics rookie was 1-2 from the free throw line and had no field goal attempts. This is the third regular season game Williams has appeared in with the Boston Celtics during the regular season.
Williams was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 46th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Kentucky. He has appeared in seven games with the Maine Celtics during the 2025 NBA G League Tip-Off Tournament, where the rookie center has averaged 12.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.9 blocks per game.
