MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - The Maine Celtics are back in action this weekend for two games against Raptors 905 as the Regular Season gets in full swing.
Maine (1-1) had a few days off after going 1-1 at the NBA G League Winter Showcase Tournament, including a comeback win over the Austin Spurs on Sunday. The Celtics finished the 14-game, Tip-Off Tournament portion of the schedule with a 9-5 record and earned a shot to play in the Winter Showcase Tournament. Maine fell to eventual champion Salt Lake City, but started the regular season 1-1 after the win over the Spurs.
A grueling schedule featuring some of the G League's best teams continues on Saturday and Sunday against Raptors 905 (2-0). The 905 beat Maine in both meetings during Tip-Off play, including the Celtics' only home loss so far this season on December 14. Raptors 905 won their first two games of the Winter Showcase Tournament before losing to Salt Lake City in the championship game, which does not count towards regular season record. Overall, Raptors 905 is 16-1 in 17 games played this season.
This weekend, two of the G League's top scorers could be set to square off in Maine's Ron Harper Jr. and 905's A.J. Lawson. Both were out due to injury in the Tip-Off Tournament finale at the Expo. Harper Jr. averaged 26.9 PPG to lead the G League in scoring during the Tip-Off Tournament and Lawson posted 23.5 PPG (11th). Harper, a Two-Way Player for the Celtics, averaged 29.0 PPG at the Winter Showcase Tournament. 905 also features another elite playmaker in rookie Two-Way player Alijah Martin. Martin scored 33 points in the Showcase Tournament Championship game and was named to this year's All-Showcase Team.
Saturday and Sunday's game will both tip-off at 7:30 p.m. The game will broadcast live on the Roku Sports Channel. Sunday's matchup will be available to watch on NBAGLeague.com.
