Celtics Acquire Two In Draft, Announce Training Camp Roster

Training Camp Opens Tuesday at Portland Expo



PORTLAND, ME – The Maine Celtics, presented by Unum, acquired Cullen Russo and Eric Demers via trade in today’s 2021 NBA G League Draft.


Maine selected Isaiah Ross (First Round, 18th overall) and Lindsey Drew (Third Round, 69th overall). Once the draft was completed, Maine traded both players in a three-team trade with Rio Grande Valley and Santa Cruz. The trade resulted in draft picks Russo and Demers heading to Maine. Both are expected to join the team for the start of training camp, which begins Tuesday at the Portland Expo.


Selected 28th overall in the First Round, Russo played for the Oklahoma City Blue during the 2017-18 NBA G League season. The Fresno State product also participated in NBA Summer League this season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, playing in 3 games.


Demers, taken in the Second Round (49th overall), is an Acushnet, Mass. native. Demers was a standout NCAA Div. III player at Gordon College, averaging 32.3 points per game in his senior season.


Additionally, the Celtics announced the rest of their training camp roster for the 2021-22 season. The Maine squad features Two-Way Players Sam Hauser and Brodric Thomas. The team also features NBA veterans Ryan Arcidiacono and Luke Kornet, who played for the Boston Celtics last season. Both join Maine as Affiliate Players. Former Two-Way players Chris Clemons (HOU), Kenny Wooten, Jr. (NYK) and Juwan Morgan (DEN) along with former NBA and Two-Way Player Theo Pinson are also on the Maine roster.
