Drew Peterson Plays Career-High 25 Minutes for Boston
Spencer Martin /December 2, 2024
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Two-Way Player Drew Peterson played the most minutes of his NBA career with the Boston Celtics on Sunday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Peterson entered the game to start the second quarter, replacing former Maine Celtic Luke Kornet to start the period. The second year player logged 25 minutes in the 115-111 loss to the Cavaliers and scored eight points on 2-6 shooting. Peterson also grabbed four rebounds, recorded one steal and drew a charge on Cleveland guard Donovan Mitchell.
“It was great to see him out there,” Kristaps Porzingis said. “I told him right away to look for his stuff because he’s a good offensive player, and he wasn’t shy all night long. He shot his shots, played good defense, and showed his game. In a high-level game like this, it was really cool to see.”
25 minutes played is the most in a single NBA regular season game in Peterson's career. It's also more minutes played than all of last season combined (23). Eight points in a game matches a career-high previously set by Peterson on April 12, 2024 against Charlotte. Peterson had logged just seven total minutes with Boston this season before Sunday night.
Sunday night's performance with Boston comes after Peterson recently scored a career-high 33 points in Maine's win over Raptors 905 on Wednesday. Peterson is expected to be with Boston again in Monday night's home game against the Miami Heat at 7:30 p.m.
Maine will also be in action on Monday night when they play the College Park Skyhawks in Georgia at 7:00 pm. The game can be watched live on NBAGLeague.com.
