Celtics go for sweep Sunday vs. Westchester
Evans Boston /November 8, 2026

Portland, ME – The brooms are out.
The Maine Celtics have a chance to open the season with a series sweep of the Westchester Knicks. Maine looks to take care of Westchester and close out the two-game set in Sunday’s matinee at the Portland Expo.
Maine (1-0) got off to a slow start in Friday’s opener, but that quickly changed. The Celtics went on a massive run in the 2nd quarter, out-scoring the Knicks 37-15 to take a convincing halftime lead and cruise to a 123-94 victory. 29 points is the largest margin of victory in a season-opening game in the entire NBA G League.
For the Celtics, it was all about the Boston stars taking care of business.
Chris Cenac Jr. was impressive in his Maine debut. The 19-year-old rookie recorded a 19 point-11 rebound double-double. Cenac, the 27th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, showed a comfortability on both ends of the floor.
Maine’s Two-Way Players were not far behind. Fellow 2026 NBA Draft pick Dillon Mitchell notched 15 points, while Devin Carter, playing on a minutes restriction, added 16 points to pace the bench scoring. Amari Williams may not have scored much – just two points on 1-3 shooting – but he added 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the win.
Seven Celtics finished in double figures. Milos Uzan led the way with 21 points. Tucker DeVries, Hayden Gray, and Gabe McGlothan each contributed in a big way. Most impressively, Maine dished out 30 assists and out-rebounded the Knicks 50-40.
For Westchester, NBA G League veteran Dink Pate was the star, dropping 21 points off the bench. Tyler Nickel added 17 points in the loss. Westchester continues to be without Two-Way Dalton Knecht, who is with the New York Knicks. David Dixon, who played 18 minutes on Friday night, is questionable for Sunday’s game.
The Celtics look to continue the momentum, carrying it into Sunday’s game and beyond – Maine hits the road for the first time this season after the game for a two-game series at Delaware on Nov. 13-14.
After Sunday, the Celtics return to the Expo on Nov. 20 when the team takes on Capital City.
