PORTLAND, Maine. - The Maine Celtics have signed NBA veteran Keon Johnson, the team announced on Monday. Johnson brings 161 games of NBA experience to Maine.
Johnson started 56 out of the 79 games he appeared in for the Brooklyn Nets in 2024-25. The 23-year-old guard averaged 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 steals in his fourth NBA season. He shot 38.9% from the floor and 31.4% from beyond the arc with the Nets.

Johnson was selected by the New York Knicks with the 21st pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after spending one season at Tennessee. He holds the NBA Draft Combine Record for the highest max vertical leap at 48 inches. Johnson played his rookie season with the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 7.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 37 games played.
The 6'5 guard appeared in 40 games for the Trail Blazers in 2022-23 where he averaged 4.7 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 10.4 minutes per game. Later that season, Johnson signed with the Brooklyn Nets. He played for the Nets on a Two-Way contract in 2023-24, where he appeared in five NBA games. Johnson appeared in 41 G League games with the Long Island Nets that season, averaging 17.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on 47.1% shooting from the field.
In a corresponding move, the Maine Celtics have released Vance Jackson.
Johnson joins a Celtics team that has won six straight games and improved to 6-3 in the NBA G League Tip-Off Tournament after a pair of wins over Westchester. Maine returns to the Portland Expo on December 6 and 7 against the College Park Skyhawks. Tickets are available here.
