Maine seeks playoff berth on Fan Appreciation Day

PORTLAND, Maine. - The Maine Celtics will battle the Delaware Blue Coats on Sunday on Fan Appreciation Day at the Portland Expo. With a win on Sunday over the Delaware Blue Coats, Maine will clinch a spot in the NBA G League playoffs for the third consecutive season.
Maine (20-12) enters Sunday's game in second place in the Eastern Conference standings, just behind first placed Osceola Magic (19-11), who beat Maine 140-133 on Thursday night in Portland. Thursday's game marked just the second time this season that Maine has scored 120+ points in a game that they lost. The Celtics were 11-1 before the loss to the Magic.
Drew Peterson recorded his first triple double of the season and the third in his career in Thursday's loss. Peterson led Maine with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. JD Davison and Jay Scrubb each scored 29 points in a high-scoring game against the Magic. Tristan Enaruna added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists off the bench for Maine. The Celtics finished the game shooting 53.3% (49-92) from the floor and 35.9% (14-39) from three.
Delaware (13-19) is mathematically eliminated from the postseason, but comes to the Expo having won their last three games in a row. Most recently, the Blue Coats beat the Indiana Mad Ants 113-103 on Tuesday behind 27 points from Isaiah Mobley.
Maine is 2-1 against Delaware this season, most recently beating the Blue Coats 126-100 on February 6th. Maine was led by a triple double by JD Davison, who finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jay Scrubb led the bench scoring with 20 points.
The Celtics have continued to find success this season when they are able to outrebound the opponent. In games where Maine has accomplished that feat, Maine is 17-4 this year.
