MAINE CELTICS PARTNER WITH TD BANK TO FIGHT FOOD INSECURITY IN MAINE

Partnership to Benefit Maine-Based “Full Plates Full Potential” and “Cultivating Community” Initiatives

PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine Celtics today announced a new extension of their partnership with longtime supporter TD Bank. The Celtics and TD Bank will work together to address two major issues within the state: childhood food insecurity and education regarding sustainable food production.

Through the partnership, the Celtics and TD Bank will support Full Plates Full Potential, a foundation aimed at eliminating childhood food insecurity across Maine, and Cultivating Community, a local non-profit whose gardens and programs provide access to healthy, sustainable food options to Portland residents.

“We as an organization think it’s vital to support local initiatives such as these,” said Maine Celtics President Dajuan Eubanks. “These green initiatives are issues that affect every community. We look forward to helping Full Pates Full Potential and Cultivating Community be a part of the solution.”

“TD is proud to partner with the Maine Celtics, leveraging our collective resources, in supporting such important causes as childhood food insecurity and sustainable food education throughout our state,” said Larry Wold, Maine’s Market President, TD Bank. “The Bank’s relationship with the Celtics and its community partners demonstrates our longstanding commitment to supporting the communities in which we live and work.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the critical role that school meals play in ensuring our kids have consistent access to nutritious food,” said Justin Strasburger, Executive Director of Full Plates Full Potential. “We’re excited that TD Bank and the Maine Celtics recognized the importance of this work and are thrilled to partner with them in driving toward a permanent end to child food insecurity in Maine.”

During their recent “Maine Goes Green” campaign, Maine Celtics staff planted seedlings that will be donated to the Cultivating Community gardens. This summer, the Celtics and TD Bank’s Community Crew staff will also host volunteer days of service at Cultivating Community.
