Maine tips off 2025-26 season in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Maine Celtics begin the 2025-26 NBA G League season Friday night on the road against the Greensboro Swarm. This year marks the 25th NBA G League season and the 16th in Maine.

The first 14 games are part of the NBA G League Tip-Off Tournament. Maine and Greensboro are both in the East Region, and will play on back-to-back nights on Friday and Saturday in North Carolina. Greensboro is the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets.

Maine went 8-8 during Tip-Off Tournament play in 2024. The Celtics then went 21-13 during the Regular Season. Against Greensboro, Maine was 3-1 against the Swarm through Tip-Off Tournament and Regular Season play. The Celtics were top-five in the G League in three-point shot attempts (40.8), offensive rebounds (13.7) and blocks per game (6.8).

The Swarm were consistently one of the G League's best teams at getting to the free throw line in 2024-25. Greensboro was first in free throws made per game (12.1), second in free throw attempts (15.5) and first in free throw percentage (78.1%).

Maine's roster is led by Two-Way Players Ron Harper, Jr., Max Shulga, and Amari Williams, as the Celtics seek their third consecutive appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals. Boston Celtics Training Camp participants Jalen Bridges, Kendall Brown, and Wendell Moore, Jr., who boast a combined 119 career NBA games, will bolster the Maine rotation this season. Familiar faces Hason Ward and Kameron Warrens are back in Maine as Returning Players. First year head coach and former Boston Celtics player Phil Pressey makes his coaching debut on Friday in Greensboro. 

Greensboro's opening night roster features a pair of former Maine Celtics in Drew Peterson and DJ Rodman. Peterson was a Two-Way player for the Boston Celtics from 2023-25. Peterson appeared in 63 games with Maine, helping the Celtics reach the NBA G League Eastern Conference Finals in back-to-back seasons. He won an NBA Championship with Boston in 2024. Peterson signed a Two-Way contract with the Charlotte Hornets on July 16, 2025. Rodman joined Maine in January 2025 and was a perfect fit during his time with the Celtics. Rodman appeared in 25 games for the Celtics, averaging 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 24.2 minutes per game. Antonio Reeves and KJ Simpson are the Swarm's other Two-Way players.
