Maine's road trip continues at Motor City Cruise

DETROIT, Mich. - After suffering their first loss during the month of February, the Maine Celtics will look to bounce back on Tuesday night against the Motor City Cruise.

Maine (14-10) currently sits in sixth in the Eastern Conference standings. Motor City (12-9) is just a half game back of Maine in eighth. Top six teams from each conference advance to the NBA G League Playoffs. Maine and Motor City have combined to win 14 out of their last 15 total games. There are just 10 games remaining in the Regular Season.

On Sunday afternoon, the Maine Celtics fell at the hands of the Memphis Hustle 115-107. The loss snapped an eight game winning streak for the Celtics, which had tied the previous franchise record set in 2014-15. JD Davison led Maine with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. The all-time franchise leader in points, assists, and steals continued to add to his tally, reaching 1,000 career assists in Sunday's loss. Davison is 16th player in G League history to record 1,000 assists, doing so in just 125 games.

As a team, Maine shot 40-91 (44%) from the floor and just 6-36 (16.7%) from beyond the arc against the Hustle. The Celtics turned the ball over 22 times to account for 37 Memphis points off turnovers. Maine was without Two-Way Player Drew Peterson, who missed Sunday's game with an ankle injury.

Motor City currently holds the longest winning streak in the NBA G League, having won their last six games in a row. The Cruise are 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. The Cruise last played on February 22, defeating the Wisconsin Herd 127-91. Motor City Two-Way Player Daniss Jenkins scored a career high of 41 points in the win after dropping 28 in the first half of the contest. Jenkins has scored 30 or more points in three of his last four appearances with the Cruise.

Former Maine Celtic Ron Harper Jr. is on the injury report for Motor City with a thumb injury and is not expected to play on Tuesday night. Harper Jr. agreed to a Two-Way deal with the Detroit Pistons organization in January, becoming the 22nd player in franchise history to earn a GATORADE Call-Up to the NBA, and the first since Luka Šamanić in the 2022-23 season. In 14 games for Maine this season, Harper averaged 14.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in 24.6 minutes per contest. 

Maine previously faced Motor City on December 22 at the NBA G League Winter Showcase when the Celtics defeated the Cruise 121-104.
