Phil Pressey returns as Head Coach of Maine Celtics

PORTLAND, ME – The Maine Celtics today announced that Phil Pressey will return for a second season as Head Coach of the Maine Celtics.

“I’m grateful for another opportunity to lead the Maine Celtics,” said Pressey. “The goal is for everyone who comes through the Expo to leave better than when they got here. Going into my second season, I’m excited to give all I can to the community and the Celtics organization.”

Pressey becomes the first returning Maine head coach in seven seasons. In his first season as a head coach at any level, Pressey led Maine to a 27-23 record overall. The Celtics reached the NBA G League Playoffs for a fourth consecutive season. Maine was one of six G League teams to qualify for both the league’s in-season tournament and the traditional G League Playoffs last season.

In addition to announcing the return of Pressey, the Maine Celtics also announced the rest of the coaching staff for the 2026-27 season. Assistant Coach Mike Malat returns to Maine for a second season, as does Boaz Mensah, who returns as Player Development Lead and Assistant Coach. Joining Malat and Mensah is Assistant Coach Devin Sweetney, along with fellow newcomers Jacob Kester and Rich Kelly, both as Video Coordinator and Player Development Coaches.

The Maine Celtics tip off the 2026-27 season on Nov. 6 vs. Westchester at the Portland Expo.
