JD Davison named Kia NBA G League Player of the Month

PORTLAND, Maine. - The NBA G League announced Maine Celtics point guard JD Davison has been named Kia NBA G League Player of the Month for February. This is the first Player of the Month honor of Davison's career.
Davison is the first Maine Celtic to be named G League Player of the Month since Luka Samanic earned the honor during the 2022-23 season for November. Davison helped the Celtics achieve a 7-1 record during the month of February and has been a key part of Maine winning nine out of their last 10 games overall. Maine (16-10) is currently third in the Eastern Conference standings. Maine Celtics Head Coach Tyler Lashbrook was named the NBA G League Coach of the Month for February.
Appearing in six games in February, the third-year guard averaged 28.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.7 blocked shots per game. Davison shot 53.3% from the field and 34.6% from three for the month, which included a triple double against Delaware where Davison recorded 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
February was a busy month for Davison, who also represented Team G League in San Francisco, California in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge during NBA All-Star Weekend. The Celtics Two Way Player finished with five points, three rebounds, and one assist on Friday night, helping the G League advance to the decisive game in the tournament. Davison is the first Maine Celtics player to participate in the Rising Stars event, and the first Boston Celtic since Jayson Tatum in 2019.
Davison has also played two games for the Boston Celtics, recording three points, one rebound, one assist, and on steal in nine total minutes in two games against Toronto and Detroit.
2024-25 has been a record-breaking season for the Two-Way Player. Davison has become the Maine Celtics franchise leader in points, assists, steals, and games played. Davison recently eclipsed 1,000 career assists and 600 career rebounds on February 23 against the Memphis Hustle. Davison is the 16th player in NBA G League history to record 1,000 assists, doing so in just 125 games. The third-year guard is currently 12 points away from reaching 2,500 career points in the G League.
In 37 games played this season, Davison is averaging 25.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Davison is currently 7th in the G League in scoring and 9th in assists during the Regular Season. Davison has scored 40 points or more twice this season and has posted four games with 30+ points and 10+ assists. Throughout the Tip-Off Tournament and Regular Season, Davison has nine total double-doubles.
Maine has won 10 of its last 11 games and returns to action on Friday, March 7 against the Cleveland Charge at 7 p.m.
